Description
Whenever you have a fanfic superhero team, you've got to eventually have a team of supervillains. And here's the Brotherhood taking on their arch-enemies, ANIA Nation.

Back in the 1990s, a small group of guys had the neat idea of producing a line of superhero comics starring some new, African-American superheroes. Thus was born ANIA Comics. The line came and went in about 3 months. One of the founders blamed Marvel and DC (specifically, DC's Milestone Comics imprint) for flooding the market and pushing ANIA's comics off the stands, which he says was responsible for ANIA's demise.

That may be, but their case surely wasn't helped by the fact that ANIA produced some of the crappiest, lame-ass comics I'd ever seen. Totally amateurish looking stuff. Sorry, but if you're going up against the big dogs, you need to bring your A-game.

Anyway, the idea of ANIA's founder blaming Marvel and DC for their demise inspired me to create a team of former superheroes turned villains who resented the fact that another group of superheroes were more successful than they were. Thus the villains of ANIA Nation were born.

First we have Green Lantern taking down Heru, Son of Ausar. He's an Egyptian god-type. Secondly, Icon punches out Omega Man. Finally, the Black Panther shows the Ebony Warrior just how much of an amateur he really is.

Enjoy the ANIA characters, my friends. You'll never see them anywhere else, except in a 25 cents bin. And they never looked anywhere as good in their own comics as they do here, penciled by one of the most talented, underrated artists I know: GEOF ISHERWOOD. Its beautifully inked by the Ink King himself, BOB ALMOND. "Ink King," get it? I crack me up.

You can get your own commission from Geof Isherwood at geofisherwood.com. Go do it, now.
That picture of Power Girl with hard nipples ain't gonna draw itself.

If you've got some already penciled pieces that you'd like to see taken to the next level, Bob Almond is your man at almondink.com. Whether they're finished pencils, breakdowns, sketches, bluelines, WHATEVER. He'll polish 'em up and make them shine.

Cool piece man! When I have the money, Geof is on my short list. Also, I just got my first Almond piece back tonight, so check it out! Thanks again for pointing me in his direction!

Great piece and I love the concept of taking the ANIA losers and turning them into a well-drawn mean looking bunch of villains. Hope you have them turn up again someday.

You mean there are other kinds of Power Girl drawings?!? (The only thing better than this drawing is the commentary that you wrote to go along with it).
