Description

When I was in highschool, we Sri Lankans experienced the peak of the popularity of weekly comic anthologies.(single page seriel stories.) The most popular weekly was sold some 120,000 copies per week.
This frame was from a love story called SUSIMA drawn by Janaka Rathnayeka who was one of the 2 most popular artists at that time.
I wanted to get the frames I loved recreated by Janka. He would do one or two.. But I wanted more. I started tracing the lines with a Carbon paper and drew over them with a ball point. When these recretions were popular among friends and other students I got requests.. then some acked me to recreate from memory. I was reluctant but manage to make acceptable pieces over time... Within 2 years I was contributing a comic story while I was still in the highschool.
