Description

This wonderful Nancy daily strip was titled "Flat Gat" for obvious reasons. I can't explain why, but the last three panels really get me. Each one is like a little Pop art masterpiece. This daily really shows Bushmiller's masterful pacing and compositions, as he completely changes camera angles from one panel to the next. A great Sluggo daily. April 27, 1949.

ADDENDUM November 7, 2023: I started reading Bill Griffith's Three Rocks: The Story of Ernie Bushmiller last night and was really surprised to see this strip used as an example of Bushmiller's process in coming up with a gag. You could have knocked me over with a feather, or a Nancy daily. I'll post the two page-spreads in the additional images.

Rob, great Nncy daily and very cool that your strip is the one Bill Grifffith picked for his book. Now you have a strip that was published twice! Bravo!
