Gregor Duncan, Janice Duncan and Bill Mauldin -- 1944

This photograph shows Janice Duncan, Gregor Duncan, and Bill Mauldin (at far right). Mauldin had delivered Gregor Duncan to his wife in Naples, Italy, in his special Willy Jeep. This was one week before Duncan was killed at Anzio. Note Mauldin's drawing of his character on the side of the Jeep. Mauldin looks all of 16 years old, which always surprised the grizzled Army vets when they first met him. The photo appears in the book, "War Stories: Veterans Remember WWII".
