I had known of Gregor Duncan (1910-1944) for over 30 years, yet knew nothing about him. The only thing I knew about him was from the back of the WWII edition of Sad Sack, which featured a wonderful pen & ink portrait of George Baker, drawn by Duncan just a few days before his was killed. Fast forward a number of years. In the late 1980s, I picked up two Gregor Duncan drawings which appeared in Stars and Stripes, but still I knew nothing about the artist. Then, just a few years ago, I found four more drawings by Duncan, all done during his days in the AAF, working in public relations. It was time to do some research.
My research led me to Duncan's widow, Janice Duncan Goodhue, as well as a number of family members and friends, which turned into an article for Hogan's Alley #17, then into a website. The article is pretty extensive, but if you're interested in a shorter form bio of Gregor Duncan, please head over to this page. The article that appeared in Hogan's Alley is now available online, and can be seen here.
