Description
On the actual published piece, Marvel had covered up Howard with a paste-up blurb. This would make it Howard The Duck's FIRST cover appearance.

The Man-Thing image is iconic (maybe the best ever) and Howard's first cover appearance, published or not, is way more than just a cherry on top.

The coolest thing about CAF is that you can find a gem every day that's been posted for years. No idea how I missed finding this earlier.

I thought I'd commented on this 10 (!) years ago or so, but -- holy smokes, but this is lovely. Beyond the nostalgia (I remember the storyline really well, the coach who bullies the kids) and beyond the Duck appearance, I'm struck by how amazingly Brunner captured the light and the textures here. It looks like it's embossed or 3D. I love it. Congrats on owning this.

Probably one of the nicest pieces on CAF. Lucky devil.
