Can this work really be 5 times the age of Mr. Silly. Zounds!

As I recall this cover, I think of all the 2-page spreads that proliferated so many other books at this time. Most seemed flawed in a very simple way, and I don't know his this escaped them. What you have to do is design both front and back covers separately--and then find a way to combine them. Otherwise you get these strangely cropped images that work only when you open them up from the back.

I was using my cel-vinyl's back then, and I fondly remember painting Sundra Peale's face, and how beautiful she looked. All the main characters were in a back-lighting situation and was a nice trial to pull that off, lighting-wise. All-in-all, there's probably things in this painting that I couldn't even duplicate today!
