"Where's my money, honey?" Yes, Luke Cage actually posed that question to the Lord of Latveria himself. You see, way back in Luke Cage, HERO FOR HIRE #8, Dr. Doom hired Cage to track down and take down some renegade Doombots. Luke got the job done, but when it came time to collect his fee, the good Doctor had already hightailed it back to Castle Doom without paying up. That prompted Luke to go to the Baxter Building and wrangle some transportation out of Reed Richards which he used to fly to Latveria and confront Vic himself. Seeing as it was only $200, I can only assume that it was the principle of the thing that led Luke to make the trek all the way to Europe.
The Luke Cage/Dr. Doom confrontation is depicted here by super-talented MC Wyman. And for those of you who only thought MC was good at drawing superheroines with big breastesses, well now you see he's much more versatile than you thought. You can head over to mcwyman.net to see more of his great range as an artist, as well as to commission him yourself.
And yes, Doom ended up paying Cage the $200 in the end.
Looks like Vic finally figured out you don't come between a man and his money. As Doc himself said "When my men reported a crazy black man in the Fantastic Four's craft, I knew it had to be you."
Yeah, Vic, crazy like a fox! And to see the ORIGINAL scene from the Cage comic, go here:
