Crazy pen, ink and acrylic by alt/underground legend J.R. Williams. Check out the hair!

It's always fun when a piece has a cool story:

In the '80s FZ had a mock "Zappa for President" campaign. I picked up a leaflet at one of his concerts (lower left). I used the image as for stickers (lower right). For 20 years I slapped 'em up in bars, concert halls, bus stops, phone booths - EVERYWHERE from the U.S. to Europe etc. Cut to 2009: One of my fave alt cartoonists, JR Wms decides to do an FZ painting. He searches the web for an image and guess what catches his eye? The same leaflet. He put the painting on his site and I snapped it up!

of course, if not for the cancer and death, he most likely would have run for President. What I wouldnt have given to see a Perot-Zappa debate with the second tier Democratic and Republican candidates denied admission as they do to others every time!
