I developed a love of wood-block prints after living in Japan and becoming fascinated with ukiyo-e. I find the concept of doing a graphic novel using this technique audacious and fitting for as you correctly pointed out in our growing correspondence, those beautiful prints in Japan, like the early comic books, were considered dispensable, nothing more than wrapping paper and the like.

I've always liked the starkness of Woodblock prints. The play of light and shadow transports the viewer into the image. It may not be as limited as Comic Art, but it's awesome nonetheless.
