I love panel pages and I love sequences. As artist, seeing page layouts and the 'flow' of a story is key to me because that's what I love doing myself. Good storytelling makes me smile like a kid
Fables is hands down one of the best (I dare say THE best) book out there. And while the writing makes is very strong, Mark Buckingham (and the inkers, in this case Steve Leialoha) creates something so beautiful within the given restraints of the text that just puts me in awe. The panels and panel borders are intrusive and the forest really feels like a forest.
I picked this sequence up at my last Wondercon in 2005 directly from Steve Leialoha who I still feel incredibly indebted to for letting me buy them.
