Description

I grew up reading Sensational Spider-Man and I was blown away by Mike's work. Animated, yet realistic, and completely gorgeous. I swore one day I would have some Spider-Man related sketch from him. I met Mike for the second time in Baltimore 2006 and worked up the courage to ask for a sketch. He said his list was full and he didn't think he could take any more. He said that, luckily, if anyone bought one of his sketchbooks, he would throw in a quickie head sketch. I was thrilled! I asked for a Mary Jane and this is what I got. It is exactly what I was looking for! I thanked him like 10 times as he was drawing it and another 10 when he finished. He just smiled and said he was glad I liked it. A true class act. It was the last time I spoke with Mike and every time I see this sketch, I am very thankful to have spoken with him a little bit and miss seeing him and his artwork that much more. Thanks Mike!
