Lawrence Marvit: Jo, San Francisco 2003

      Lawrence Marvit was at the first Alternative Press Expo in San Jose with his comic book Sparks: an urban fairy tale. It tells the story of Jo, a tomboyish auto mechanic with an abusive father. The only good relationship she has is with a robot. Lawrence was on a panel of animators doing comics. I picked up the next few issues at irregular intervals until finally seeing a complete book for sale at a convention. Lawrence apologized profusely for not publishing the rest of the story as individual issues before collecting it. I'm happy with the nice drawings he did for me.
