DescriptionHe lives...he walks....no grave can hold him! And, I'll probably be in the grave before this one re-enters the art market (in 100 or so years!). Probably Marvel's best monster magazine cover from that time period (although, that Morrow Monsters Unleashed #1 is a very close second). I read that Stan Lee wanted a cover that would demand attention on the stands in 1973. I remember seeing it on the stands then. I was too scared to buy it! (but, I did get up the courage to get the #2 & #3). Great stuff!Social/Sharing |

That's really great. I have this unexplainable fascination with some of the early Boris paintings, before all that crazy body builder stuff. I think it's because I grew up with his stuff, and picked most of his covers off the stands. This is one of my favorites. I always wondered if it was out there.

I too grew up with his art and when I used to collect books, I would hunt for Boris and Frazetta covers no matter what the book was. I remember this one and a huge Congrats on landing this! It must look great in person!

I review it every morning before my working day starts, and makes me want to drop you a line to thank you for being so kind to sell this item to me. It's always here for you to view in person if you should ever decide.

It was only a little while before that my mother, who still remembered the Kefauver hearings, let me buy my first horror comic book (Marvel Spotlight #4 featuring Werewolf by Night), but the black & white mags were still verboten in '73. Still, I remember seeing this one, up on the upper shelves of the comic stands at the local drug store, where little boy hands could not reach.
