DescriptionHot Jiggedy Jabberin' Severed Head-on-a-Stick!It's Shriek's 21st Birthday This Summer! Shriek is of drinking age and can vote! Here's a real treasure: the first drawing ever done of the horror host Shriek, a character conceived by FantaCo Enterprises Inc. publisher/editor Tom Skulan for FantaCo's horror anthology comicbook series Gore Shriek. It was June, 1988 when Tom described his concept for this character and Shriek's monstrous companion Gore (that's the next drawing going up on the block this week!). Tom's concept was clear: Shriek was just a living skull with a shock of white hair perched atop a rotting t-shirt. Gore was his nominal 'ventriloquist' buddy, though the illusion was to be that it was Shriek who had the brains and really was doing all the talking, though he was perched on Gore's -- uh, claw. It was a funny notion and we went through a few different variations on Gore, but Shriek was picture-perfect from the beginning. This first-ever sketch is from that brainstorming session with Tom Skulan in Albany, NY in June 1988. This first-time ever Shriek portrait measures approx. 7 3/8" x 10" on a sheet of two-ply bristol paper, drawn with marker and pen with a bit of pencil underdrawing visible. The 'Shriek' t-shirt logo, my signature and the date are in pencil, the rest is drawn with permanent markers. Per usual, you'll have to take care displaying this original art: markers will fade from long exposure to sunlight and other kinds of light. UV protective glass is strongly recommended in framing. This is a historic piece of original art. This one goes for $200 plus shipping -- first to email me at msbissette@yahoo.com ready to pay takes the prize. Or: For a limited time only, you can buy the original Shriek portrait sketch in combination with the first-ever sketch of Gore & Shriek (below), both sketches (from the same brainstorming session), plus a signed copy of Gore Shriek #6 (1989) for just $400 plus shipping -- Shriek was created by Tom Skulan, artwork ©1988, 2009 Stephen R.
