Clowns - who did it where did it appear

Early painting whcih i hae owned for years- cnetral clown looks a bit like Lon Chaney in he who laughs
Would love to knwo the artist and where it may have appeared
This one actually came out of Chciago back i nthe 1980's - in an odd lot of art that included a Gil Elvgren ad piece, a Hargens western nude , a CC Senf Weird tales cover and this!
It might be a circus poster or otehr adverstising piece though there is sort of an unsettling effect of the sprt pf demented clown in the front and the othes laughing in the back.
