Description

Back in the day when I was still collecting art, I discovered with great envy Tim Townsend's Rubinstein-inked commission. Soon I was knocking on A.K.'s door to get mine done. It took him unusually long to turn it in, and when I got it I realized why. He had kept adding line over line, making a pretty loyal yet substantially darker version. he also did some changes in the faces, but I think that they still have a very "Byrnish" flavour.

This is a terrific way to ink byrne's stuff... more detailed than ever.

Well, having seen Art's own stuff, I know that he has a certain tendency to draw with a sort of engraving style, which means lots of parallel, mechanical lines, and a lot of blacks, too. However, I think that here he's not that far from the way Byrne used to ink himself, albeit in a darker style. It sorta reminds me of John Byrne's inks in his run on The Hulk.
