Hughes PowerGirl 2002 DragonCon

The quest for the Hughes "Power Girl" sketch began almost a year prior in 2001 when I was looking forward to attending the Baltimore Comic Con so that I could spend time with some friends of mine (Russ and Tre), meet Adam Hughes, and possibly get a sketch. We got to the convention very early and waited for it to open where that year they were doing a really interesting thing; handing out tickets to wait in lines for the creators. Oh the disappointment when I asked for an Adam Hughes ticket and learned that he would not be attending. Then, in 2002, I decided to attend Hero’s con in Charlotte. Again, arriving hours before the convention opened on Saturday. Obviously, I did not get an Adam Hughes sketch, but did learn a very valuable lesson. Adam Hughes has a list that is full within the first ten minutes; the first day of a convention. Again I was disappointed, but I was learning. Later in 2002, I decided to attend the Dragon Con and given all of the prior difficulties, I got to the convention at 8:00 am and waited until 1:00 pm when the Convention opens on Friday. I was in fact the first person in line and as you can see, this Power Girl sketch was well worth the wait and effort. Adam was very nice and obviously took his time. Thank you Adam.
