Description

The Deadman segment of this Challengers story was originally intended as part of the ghostly hero's Strange Adventures run and it was later adapted into the published version that appeared in Challengers of the Unknown #74. Neal Adams' work on the Deadman run was among the first to draw him wide critical acclaim and his pages featuring the macabre character do not often change hands. This is a great example featuring Deadman duking it out with another astral being with both pencils and inks by Adams.

The top panel where Boston knocks the other ghost out of the body of the undisturbed host is both classic Deadman and classic Neal.

Wow, didn't you just win this on Comiclink a minute ago? Nice turnaround time! I was admiring that page myself. For me it's the second tier that is the high point, that subtle composition of fists breaking up the panel borders is so smart. It puts the viewer right at the point of impact. He also exploits the transparency of the figures to lovely effect.
