The first time I ever saw this piece, I was at the original owner's home helping him to prepare it for fumigation (of all things). As it was created by two of my favorite artists, I never forgot the image. After changing hands at least twice and developing a rather infamous reputation in the process, it is finally mine! Tainted history aside, I couldn't be happier!

I know Art and Mike have collaborated before, but I don't think it's been more than a few times. There's a Marvel Team-up cover that comes to mind, but I can't exactly recall when and where else they shared art duties. Pretty sure it's never been done for interiors, just a few covers. But I could be wrong.

Anyway, it's such an interesting choice of characters. Not sure who decided what among the artists, or even if this was something just lying around at Arthur's place that Mike asked to ink. Always wanted to ask either of them for the origins of the piece, but considering how bitter they both are about this piece and its history, I'm too scared to even bring it up! LOL

Thanks to Gaetano for finally deciding to sell and for putting a buyer friendly price tag on it.

You can't leave a tease like that and then not tell the story Is the ghost of Mike Mignola haunting this piece or something?

I can't get into details, but It involves a wookie, jerry mathers 60lbs of samon and a very curious carrie fisher at the chateu marmont. It was the 80's. That's all i can say.

A very strong composition, making the most of Ettrigan's cloak to frame his body. The range of shading techniques is very nice here, especially in the way that it adds to the lighting at the top of the image.
