When the mysterious being known as Bloodwynd goes on the rampage, Steel arrives to take him down. But as the threat proves greater than he anticipated, he summons the Brotherhood for help -- but can even they defeat a foe who can tap the power of those in the hereafter?
Boy, I love writing those upcoming comic blurbs. Anyway, this piece features Bloodwynd, a former member of the Justice League during the Dan Jurgens run.
Now, I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a character whose origin and back story is more convoluted and confusing than Bloodwynd's, but after all, DC is the home of Hawkman and the Legion of Super-Heroes, among others. Let's just say he's a mystic-type that also has super-strength and shoots eye beams. He's always been one of those types that seems like he could be on the side of the good guys or the bad guys depending on the situation. I thought he'd make a great antagonist, and so here he is.
I've been wanting to expand the ranks of the core Brotherhood membership from the original seven, and I've decided to make Steel a full-time member, so if I had an actual story to go with this piece, they'd be offering him membership at the end, which of course, he'd accept.
This piece was penciled by the immensely talented Mike Leeke. Mike drew a lot of comics for Valiant/Acclaim as well as Comico's the Elementals series as well as several other gorgeous commissions for me. This one keeps up that tradition. Special thanks to Mike for a superb job. This one'll eventually be finding its way to Bob Almond to be inked to perfection.
Mike Leeke doesn't have a website as far as I know, so if you want to commission him. ask him the next time you pass him on the street.
