DescriptionMy truest folly ...As a teenager Mark Bright's two Avengers Annuals were just the coolest things ever :) Avengers Annual #17 and West Coast Avengers Annual #1 were totally rad and wicked (respectively). And, as all good comic book geeks do, I came up with my own Avengers line-ups. When I first got into the commission thing I knew that if I could ever even find Mark Bright I'd ask him if he'd be willing to draw them for me. I was and he did :) I then took the pencils to Mike Gustovich (inker of AA#17) and Geof Isherwood (inker of WCAA#1) and asked them to ink them. Heck, I even went one step further and asked and great Bob Layton if he would ink them as well (Mark and Bob are still my favorite Iron Man art team). I ended this "project" by asking CAF's own Derek Muthart if he'd color them for me. To have this set of art is nothing less than a blessing to me. My teenage years carried right and properly into middle age. I thank all - Mark, Mike, Geof, Bob and Derek for this. I am truly pleased to say these are mine. This one is my West Coast team of Iron Man, Wonder Man, Tigra, American Eagle, Modred the Mystic, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. Geof's inks on this one were my favorite (love the thickness of his line on Wonder Man the great face that he gave Tigra) so I asked Derek if he'd go and color it. Super job by Derek! I was wondering how Pym would look as he's just in plain clothes but Derek did a great job and American Eagle just pops. I loved dealing with Mark, Geof and Derek on this and, truly, couldn't be happier with how it turned out. My inner geek couldn't be more satisfied. And yes, somewhere in my apartment is an old notebook filled with my chickenscratch story of how these really random folks came together ;) Original size 11x17 Social/Sharing |
