The fact that -THIRTEEN YEARS- have passed before anyone even -commented- on this glorious piece is NOT even the most remarkable thing here, Anthony... :) The brilliant pairing of Mark Morales with Jim Cheung utterly destroyed the art on this series, and you have a prime example of this, right as the first issue explodes out of the gate.  I'd love to see an updated scan of this, because it looks like the richness of the Emperor's cloak in panel 1 is off the charts.  Same with the assembled ranks of Skrull Warriors in panel 4!  And the way they stage the action here, ping-ponging back and forth between our heroes, is dizzying in all the right ways.  Jim and Mark had to fit a LOT on this page (a TON of story to cover in a relatively small page count!) and the way they switch between full panels and half-empty ones, to give the page a sort of counterpoint and artificial "space" when everything is so shoehorned in, allow the action and art to breathe, even in its "teeny tiny living space" (and I have no idea why 'Aladdin' lines are going through my head now :) ).  Fantastic storytelling engineering, Anthony!  Outta sight!
