Brian basset, Red & Rover Daily Strip

Brian Basset created RED AND ROVER in 2000 while continuing to produce ADAM@HOME which he started as ADAM in 1984 (he has since relinquished the drawing chores to former BIG TOP creator Rob Harrell). Basset previously was editorial cartoonist for the SEATTLE TIMES. Basset’s father, Gene Basset, was a sports, theatrical and political cartoonist for over 40 years, retiring in 1993.

For this earlier original, Basset pencilled and inked directly on drawing paper. As Basset explains: “I use label paper throughout instead of white-out. This allows me to rework my art fast while still maintaining the same rich black line. For inking tools, I use Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens and Prismacolor Premier pens. I use Black Warrior HB 2 pencils.”
