DescriptionThis is it !!!! First apparition of Shang-Chi the Master of Kung-Fu and, extreme delight, the first appariton of the MOKF major villain Fu Manchu all at once !!!!!The characters created by Sax Rohmer were adapted by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin at the same time Starlin worked on his Captain Marvel and the page is signed Gemini ( and was later signed by Jim Starlin on the margin )...actually the SME #15 was released one month later than the CM #29 ( 1973 ) which is the earlier Gemini signed cover I can remember of and the best CM cover there is ( Lucky Len !!! )!!!! Every Starlin collector knows of the special link between these two artists, Starlin and Milgrom and I still believe Al was the best inker for Jim, after himself OF COURSE !!!! Funny is the Gemini signature figuring twice on the cover as it was printed the lower part of the ground wouldn't appear so they re-signed it above the previous one... And very interesting is the lettering attempt on the back of the page which means IMO that Starlin designed the title too !!!!! I don't think there is any other exemple of a Starlin first apparition featured on a vintage 70's cover, even Dreadstar ( in the 80's ) hasn't his first app. on a cover... What more is to say ?? this cover is not a cosmic cover but still it is my Ultimate Masterpiece and the art is SUPREME !!!! I've always been fond of Kung-Fu in general and the MOKF is one of the best series from the early Bronze age...No need to say Jim is my top number one favorite artist ! When I was younger and still actively filling my comic books collection I searched for 10 years ( !!! ) before I could find a decent copy of the SME#15, in France back in the days it wasn't easy to get key books even from the Bronze age and for the little story I found it in Amsterdam ( eh-eh !! ) !!!! Now posting this Huge art masterpiece fills me with so intense feelings that I want to thank everybody who is dealing with me, patiently and honoring me with their trust !!!! And the special thanks go to John and Nick my best UK pals !!!!! Thanks for letting me the two years I needed to achieve this godlike new addition to my humble collection which now won't remain so humble anymore !!!!!!! Meeting the both of you is the very best thing that happened in my collector's life and what a pleasure to have a business relationship turning to real friendship !!! Also huge thanks for the friends on the CAF who support my Starlin collection always there for their help, comments and kind words !!!!! Eric I know you're out there !!!!! Yeah life is GOOD !!!! And collecting art is the best experience of all after ... well you know ! Social/Sharing |

I agree with Josh that you have firmly established with this magnificent Special Marvel Edition-Master of Kung Fu cover that your gallery is one of the best on the entire CAF. The first appearance of Shang-Chi and by Starlin!!! And an early Gemini signature!!! I'm very happy for you my friend, it couldn't have ended up in a better home. This is one of the greatest pieces of art from the Bronze age or any age for that matter!!!

Great Goobily Goop! Man I have great memories of this book. As well as Capt.Mar-vell #29! Starlin in his prime, I loved his Marvel Feature, CM & Warlock the most!

Congratulations Romain! Easily one of the best Bronze Age covers of all time. Your Starlin collection grows to even greater heights and I couldn't think of a more deserving Starlinite to wind up owning this masterpiece!
