DescriptionEnd page for the first part of the Dracula/Dr. Strange confrontation. Written by Marv Wolfman and Steve Englehart, two writers at the top of the game, with art by the fantastic team of Colan/Palmer.So, what makes this page so special? For starters, this story is the second to last story of Dr. Strange penned by Englehart, ending a great run of almost 20 issues of Dr. Strange stories. But this is also this is the culmination of the first battle between Dracula and Dr. Strange and the full force of the eye of Agamotto, a battle of wills, with Dracula winning simply because he refuses to be beaten and finally bitting Dr. Strange; This page's last panel is also what would be Dr. Strange's #14 cover and what would be the splash of that issue, with both the faces of Dracula and Dr. Strange looking almost the same as this panel, right down to the lighting and shading effects :) And did i mention this is one of my best remembered stories from my childhood?? This page is superior in almost every way and is a prime example of why the Colan/Palmer art team is so well remembered.

Glad this is such a special page for you. Makes it easier for me having sold it. Finding that special page from your youth is what this hobby is all about. And I'm glad you reprinted my words from the auction about the final panel being used for the cover and splash of Dr. Strange #14 - that was the element that really attracted me to the page, and made it stand out for me. This was one of my favorite crossovers from the 70's, and re-reading the comics as an adult, I still love it!

It was, i think, one of the stories that won me over to Dr. Strange, the other being the Wolfman/Alcala colaboration of issue #19. And it was in one of the first comics i ever read. :)
