Description

Allen Bellman worked for Timely/Marvel in the 1940s and 50s. He got his start assisting Syd Shores on Captain America. Bellman's work appeared in such titles as All Winners Comics, Blonde Phantom and Marvel Mystery Comics. He was interviewed by Michael Vassallo in Alter Ego Magazine #32, which was published in January 2004. Recently I noticed several nice commissions by Bellman were showing up here on CAF. I immediately jumped at the chance to get a drawing of Captain America by a genuine Golden Age artist. I contacted Allen through his website (www.allenbellman.com) and arranged to have a commission done. This arrived in the mail today, and I could not be happier.

Update: in a nice bit of symmetry, Allen Bellman was re-interviewed in Alter Ego #114, and this piece appeared in the article, on page 43. Check it out!

Congrats Ben! One of the nicest Bellman's I've seen. I've always been a sucker for that portrait with vignette format.
