Description
I loved this sketch and the idea behind it. I am also glad the money went to a good cause like the Hero Initiative.

I must admit that the decision to get this slabbed by CGC was a tough one. I am not a supporter or fan of the whole CGC movement. I have never owned a slabbed book before because to me at that point it is no longer a collectible comic but a commodity and that isn't why I read or buy comics. I understand the arguements both for and against slabbing and for me it still doesn't sit right. Having said that, this was a bit of a unique item. This is my first cover sketch piece and since slabbing was included with the auction I thought I'd give it a go. I am still undecided but i guess this will protect the artwork better than other ways I might store this if it were not slabbed. It is a bit of a strange feeling owning this, something I didn't think I ever would do.

Leonard Kirk is one of my favorite underrated artists--great stuff! But anyone who thinks this is a "sketch" has no understanding of the word's meaning! This is an inked drawing--and a mighty nice one at that! Thanks for posting!

the talented Mr. Kirk did a great job on this. Now break open that slab and enjoy it in its full glory! and of course i agree with your opinion of the slab nonsense. Didn't we all start collecting comics cause we liked to look inside the book!???
