Description
I love this piece and I'd love to find more strips by Mace, who seems to be largely unknown. It is absolutely pristine--not a dot of Pro-White, and even the "Junior Grade" title and the copyright notice seem to have been glued with acid-free glue--there's not a trace of yellowing.

A couple of years later, Charles Schulz did a very similar strip: Schroeder wants to quit playing baseball and go home to play his piano, and Charlie Brown can't believe it, and repeats, louder and louder, "You're what?" in each panel. I'd bet it was a subconscious reminiscence of this strip (which was esentially a Peanuts ripoff in the first place). I happen to think the joke is funnier in Mace's version.
