Zombie Soldier by Bernie Wrightson

I'd been reading comics for possibly a year before any one artist really jumped out at me. Prior to that I was never really even that conscious of the idea that these books were drawn by someone. The artwork was generic. It just served the story. Then I saw the cover to Swamp Thing #9. That image of Swamp Thing rising out of the muck...oh my! Who was Bernie Wrightson? I started buying up everything I could get my hands on that he'd drawn. I couldn't get enough. Original art though was another thing entirely. Because he's soooo good, his art isn't cheap - and rightfully so! As you can tell from my collection here on CAF, it's a rare piece of art that ends up in my collection that doesn't have ol' Matt Murdock in it. Bernie is definitely one of those exceptions. This piece is so incredible. It's not as fully rendered as some of his work, but even in this rougher form he's got more feeling and texture than most anyone could ever hope for.
