George Perez - the Scarlet Witch

The main reason I went to the Pittsburgh Comic Con was to try to get a sketch from George Perez. I had seen George at one of my first shows and did not have the opportunity to get in on the raffle to get a commission; being a new fan to conventions, I didn't think it would be a problem to win sometime. Everytime since then (to the tune of 6 years), I would get a ticket here or a ticket there and give it a shot; never had any luck.

I didn't win either of the first 2 days in Pittsburgh (although I did get to help a charity a little bit, which was a great thing), so we decided early Saturday to stay the 2nd night for a chance on the third day. A buddy of mine texted me on Saturday, telling me he had a good feeling for me on Sunday. Wow, he was right!!

I'm overjoyed that I was able to get my Scarlet Witch sketch from George. I read Avengers for the first time when he and Kurt Busiek were on the title and I was always impressed by his "gypsy Scarlet Witch" (as he calls her). While sketching, George talked about his inspiration for the outfit, his time on the Avengers, and his highlights of drawing JLA/Avengers. George was even kind enough to add a little extra detail to the sketch, which blew me away.

I fear I can ramble on for paragraphs, so I'll simply say thanks so, so much, George!! :)
