Description
I have been itching to post this on CAF for sometime now. Michael Netzer does a fantastic job on this and the other three which comprises an imaginary series called "Legion Races ".

I like many others am a fan of the old Superman / Flash races. I wondered why with all the Silver Age Super-Speedsters that Curt Swan never did a 30th century version of these great tales. In those Silver Age days..Superboy would ( and should ) be the clear cut winner of any competition

But todays Legion of Superheroes.is a little different. Connor ( Superboy ) Kent has speed powers but how would he stack up against XS who just joined after the epic Legion of Three Worlds Adventures ?

And What about Supergirl, Mon-el, Dawnstar or Ultra Boy ?

The only solution is to have them race using previous epic Superman / Flash covers to choose from.

Mike jumped on this project and turned them out at super-speed. He is a JOY to work with. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anybody thinking about commissions.

Ditto for Chris Ivy who inked this and the others in this series in his usual amazing manner. In fact Chris and I had so much fun that we did two versions of the Legion Race Logo

These commissions brings me back to less complicated times when what we would now dismissively called cheap stunts or odd plotlines, still had me hanging on the edge of my seat as I read on a last page " Join us next month for the epic conclusion..."

So starting with Superboy and XS , we begin the Legion Races : It starts with a Countdown that goes ..3...2..1...DIE !

While that scenario took place, all too many times during the Flash / Superman races, there will be a winner here ( and its not going to be Krypto )

Love it! I always liked the Flash/Superman races as well. And I also plan on getting a Netzer commission eventually.

He is such a great guy and as you can see from the additional images I scanned, the pencils alone of this are outstanding. Might I suggest a Netzer Commission : Karate Kid Vs Duplicate Boy of Lallor ?

That is a definite possibility. I'll proabbaly give him a small list of opponents and let him choose. That's what I usually do.
