Description
After the well regarded Alan Moore run, post Rick Veitch's quitting, Doug Wheeler took the reigns of the Swamp Thing series. Thomas Yeates who had been the artist on the early, pre Alan Moore, Saga of the Swamp Thing issues had come back to the title for a few issues handling the art chores. Doing both pencils and inks, he created this very oversize page of art for issue 89. Swamp Thing had travelled back in time and seemed to be stuck there. Abby's in the present about to give birth, and discovering that Swamp Thing is stuck in the past. In this issue, Swamp Thing tries to get back to his time and travelling through the green he winds up running into three monarchs. Yeates captures the beautiful landscape and the surreal world that Swamp Thing finds himself in on his journey. This page has an overlay that fit in of the bottom panel right by Swamp Thing's elbow, between the two dialog boxes, as Swamp Thing uses the Amber to go back into the green, trying to get back to Abby.
