Description
Moon Man
Mystic Comics #5 (March 1941)

Moon Man was one of the transitional characters that appeared in Mystic Comics as it moved away from the unusual features that populated the title in its first year, toward the more traditional costumed heroes, that would end out the run. Ostensibly the secret identity of a rich socialite type, though we never see him out of costume, Moon Man, battles the forces of evil "on nights when the full moon shines". This seems like a neat idea, but kind of limits his crime fighting office hours.

In his only recorded exploit, Moon Man goes after the crooked Boss McGool, a vile swindler, responsible for poisoning orphans, after selling the orphanage tainted meat (for their Christmas dinner, no less).

The most notable characteristic of the strip was the crisply designed artwork by Fred Guardineer.

The great Batman artist Don Newton drawing a Golden Age - er - well, rip-off of Batman. Sweet. Moon Man looks pretty cool too.
