DescriptionTRDL 2011 Series, No. 60 - Kabuki Third Rail Thrills Series No. 62 This piece was done for the Kabuki jam on the TRDL R3 Forum and TRDL-R3-WeeklyJam group on dA. David Mack's character, Kabuki, was always very striking to me, not only in the costume design but in the non-costume illustrations he would do, showing his masterful hand at drawing beautiful Japanese women. I've been seated next to him at a con, and I understand WHY. Anyway, I wanted to do another old-school vintage pose for this one. This was actually drawn on the plane on the way down to LA and inked on the way back, with only a few turbulence related hiccups. Process notes here: Social/Sharing |

Despite the plane travel and turbulence you had to endure, this turned out really nice. Always liked Kabuki as well, this is a wonderful drawing. I really like the pose and look on her face.

The one glaring error I initially made was that I couldn't decide, at the time of illustration, if I wanted her arm farther back with elbow visible, as it is now, or if I wanted it more tight to the back, with hand visible holding the scythe. So i unintentionally rendered both, and forgot to choose. One of my site fans noted this and I made the quick correction. Thanks for looking and commenting!
