Description

In the early 1960s, Bud began doing covers for the Pictorial Review, a Sunday magazine of syndicated columns and cartoons by King Features writers and artists. Bud had been doing interior cartoons since the mid-1950s, but it wasn't until a few years later that he started doing covers. This cover shows a member of the local "gang" being taunted by his friends as he plays ring-bearer during a wedding ceremony. Filled with Bud's wonderful line work and color, the piece is also beautifully composed.

When I showed this piece to Bud a number of years ago, he said that some of the color had faded over the years, though much of the color remains strong and vibrant.
