I was lucky enough to win a meet and sketch with Dave Gibbons at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. Gibbons mentioned during the night that one of his
biggest regrets was turning down the art duties for the
Mark Millar series Superman: Red Son. This is one of my favorite stories of all time, an Elseworlds tale detailing what might have happened should
superman landed in Russia. I had spent part of the previous week wondering what would be something clever for Dave to sketch, but once the words regarding Superman: Red Son left his mouth, my sketch decision was sealed.
