Ella Cinders by Charlie Plumb and Fred Fox - Sunday, July 20, 1947 (Atom-Age)
An excellent three-tier Sunday example featuring the title character in 9 of 11 panels. Blackie (Ella's kid Brother) and Patches (Ella's eventual Husband) also appear. Created by Charles Plumb (artist) and Bill Conselman (writer), the strip was syndicated by United Features Syndicate in 1925. Mr. Plumb and Mr. Conselman continued to share credits until Conselman's death in 1940 after which Plumb took sole credit. However, Mr. Plumb was known for hiring the work out and employed several ghosts over the strip's 36 year tenure. The best known was Fred Fox who took over the strip when Plumb retired in the 1950's. The strip ended in 1961.
