You can see how Frazetta's experience doing "funny animal" work earlier in his career gave him great charicature skills that became even more apparent when he ghosted on L'il Abner a few years later.

beautiful. the detail in the face probably wasn't needed but he did so anyways. the piece pops so much more with little facial lines. wow

Love these Frank Frazetta Johnny Comet strips from the early 1950s. Frank had a real talent for drawing comical characters. You can see how it would have been easy for him to ghost L'il Abner in a few years. To be honest, I actually prefer his strip work to his later paintings of barbarians, babes and beasts. This art is so much more human, so much more approachable. Wish his comic strip career had worked out better for him. Great pick-ups, congrats!
