Description
Little Annie Fannie was the creation of Mad Magazine creator Harvey Kurtzman and his fellow founding Mad-man Will Elder. Conceived as a way to lampoon popular culture, Annie first appeared in 1962 in Playboy.

Playboy editor/publisher Hugh Hefner seduced Kurtz and Elder from Mad along with Jack Davis to make his own satirical magazine Humbug, which ran only two issues. I understand that Annie still runs in Playboy under the capable hand of Ray Lago.

Last I checked, Lago does not mention his involvement with Annie on his web site, but in private at least he calls Annie, "My girl". He said he wanted to "do right by her," with this commission and he did.

The pose is a tribute to two different ones popular with Playboy during the era that produced Annie, the hands behind the head causing the bosom to rise and the fly is open coy pose used in several centerfolds of the period.
