DescriptionThis is the unused cover artwork to DETECTIVE COMICS #517. These are the original cover pencils done by the late, great, legendary, Gene Colan in 1982. Batman becomes a vampire. This version is much nicer than the published version and I'm not really sure why they didn't use this one. Art done on standard sized artboard with no major condition issues to note. Signed by Gene Colan at the bottom. I also have the lightboxed inks done by Gene's long time inker, Dave Gutierrez. This lightboxed, inked piece is also done on standard sized artboard and it really gives you a sense of what the finished cover would have looked like. It's really a stunning piece.Social/Sharing |

Very impressive piece ! I have no idea why they chose not to use it, clearly among Colan's best BATMAN covers ! Congrats !
