Ninjak # 8 October 1994 Chaos Effect - Gamma “Hearts Desire” Pg 17 Inks over pencil on Valiant Bristol Board Pencil & Inks Tom Mandrake Writers: Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning
Colin King is the wealthy son of a master spy who was employed by the British Government. King was raised in the Orient but was an outcast in that society. When his father was killed by rival agent Iwatsu, King went into training, determined to continue his father's tradition and bring his killers to justice. Now a master of the secret arts of the ninja, he serves England and the world as Ninjak. Ninjak is the enforcer of the mysterious Weaponeer organization and the world's foremost espionage expert. Ninjak uses his expertise in martial arts, demolition, information acquisition and others skills, a keen intellect and an ability to prepare for any outcome in a given situation. He wears a kevlar-armored bodysuit that can change color.
THE CHAOS EFFECT - GAMMA: Part 3 (of 4; 8 of 18). Webnet is frozen, and Ninjak is caught in the middle of a mission when The Chaos Effect plunges the world into darkness. Who better to take advantage of the situation than Madame Noir, one of Master Darque's most powerful agents? Her necromantic power to charm men was irresistible before; now that she's been "super-charged," can any man resist fulfilling her every fatal whim? "Heart's Desire" is written by Mark Moretti (idea), Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, with art by Tom Mandrake.
When the lights go out? Let's do some killing, of course! We bring back an old foe here. Someone who overpowers men with her scent. Ninjak proves a worthy opponent, fighting, so they hatch a plan to attack Dr. Silk, and then meet for after school festivities. Nice to see a little more into the break of Ninjak here. His scars of his past life are an interesting new facet of his life - so he can't ever love again.
After the sudden flow of necromantic energy Ninjak encounters Mademoiselle Noir. He is able to resist her feminine charms and she becomes intrigued with him. She promises to fulfill his greatest desire, the death of Dr. Silk, in exchange for his love. When faced with Dr. Silk, Ninjak is unable to kill him. Silk escapes and Noir is left alone.
It's not really related to the whole of the Chaos Effect. It's strange to me. With the deep connection to London, this may have been a place to really make the connection over.
It also shows how Ninjak wants to defeat Silk in a fair fight - although how you'd fairly fight a crippled man, I don't know.
