Description

As with many, my serious introduction into comics as a formal reader/collector came with superhero comics. In my late teens I discovered the US indie comic scene and everything changed: Clowes, Tomine, Matt, the Hernandez Bros and Peter Bagge changed the way I looked at comics forever and showed me the way to a part of the media more connected to things in life with wich I'd feel more related.

Month after month I'd pick up Hate and Buddy's evolution. I still remember having the chance to interview Peter Bagge in 97 at the Barcelona Comic Con. I was surprised to find a nice, sharp guy in a blazer and not the indie hipster I would have expected. Hate, the regular series, was still not over and I recall he telling me that along all those years he'd given Buddy a hard time and that there would be a happy ending for him, with a blonde with big tits by his side, and how I laughed my ass off when I read the last issue of Hate and could finally get the punchline.

Issue 18 is one of my favorite ones. I loved the love/hate interaction between Buddy and his brother and how, in this issues, he would be getting more human and less of the indie loser slapstick he was in the first issues on the series. It's absolutely cool to own a page that you recognize inmediately when you see it and can vividly remember in your mind because the issue it comes from kept in your mind, and this is the case.
