IDW's been publishing a series of books that reprint the OA for specific artists. I bought the Dave Stevens, Walt Simonson, and Wally Woods ones as soon as I could pre-order.

However, budgets are budgets and when the John Romita Spider-man was announced I decided to forego it since though I admire John's art (especially his women), I'm not much of a Spider-man fan (handsome guy with superpowers, one of the best brains in the MU, and two gorgeous girlfriends (MJ and Gwen) spends his day complaining).

My stand in support of curbing my spending lasted a very short time because IDW offered editions that would include head sketches by John Romita. Given that John no longer pencils, this would be (most likely) the last chance to get a drawing by him.

For me, the clear choice was MJ. She sort of existed before JR took over the book, but not really. Her famous debut is a classic and one of the best single panels ever even in recreations.

By the way, the book was a real bargin, too. :) Here's the way I figure it:

which breaks down to:

1) $100 for the book (not bad in its own right)
2) $ 50 for Stan's signature (his standard at that time)
3) $ 50 for John's signature (haven't a clue if he charges to sign, but he's worth the same as Stan IMO)
4) $ 50 for the sketch (practically free)

What a bundle!

The signed and sketched books are a bargain in themselves! I bought one of these and a Tarzan one by Kubert but had to sell that last one for funds.
