Description

On May 9, 2012, the Presdient of our United States, Barack Obama, announced that he supported same-sex marriage and his feelings on same-sex marriage had evolved since his election. I admire our President for standing by his own convictions and the fact that he had come to this realization after many years seemed organic and real.

Which comes to why I posted this page from Enigma now because Michael Smith--the 20 something heterosexual character in Enigma-- undergoes a similar evolution and realizes he is gay. Although Enigma gives him the option of returning to being straight after his realization, Michael never looks back and even tells his girlfriend "I don't think you love me, I just think you hate the idea of me not loving you". Snap. Snap. The girl is more attracted to him more than ever but he is way out of reach and more of a man than when he started.

This page shows the three characters: Enigma, Titus (gay writer of Enigma) and Michael. Titus had made a pass at Michael at a bar and he decked him but here he comes to realize that "I was wrong, wrong about not being queer"

Thanks Peter Milligan for such a transformational story and for Duncan Fregredo for such beautiful art back in 2003.

Who would have thunk it-- 9 years later our President of the United States would be advocating for our equal rights in marriage? Talk about evolution !!!
