Alex Toth did indeed "set the standard" after leaving DC and moving to Standard comics during the 1950's. While there, he did horror, sci-fi and war stories. In my opinion, though, his romance work left all of the other stories in the dust. This is the splash from Lonesome for Kisses a 10-page story that appeared in Intimate Love Comics 26 (February 1954). This story is full of dramatic silhouettes, great figures and faces... and really is a tour de force!

In the first page, the fiance of a conflicted photographer finds a photo of a beautiful woman he has kept... and ends the engagement.

Hey Wally! I've been on a Toth kick as of late and was poking around CAF today to see what examples are out there. IMHO, this story is just beautifully done! No shock to see it in your gallery.
