Description

At the 2012 SDCC Stuart Sayger was kind enough to do another Batman villian for me, this time around though I left the choice up to him as a surprise for the end of the convention.

On the last day, he presented me with Clayface. He mentioned that he purchased and used an air gun for a portion of the art which is something that he has rarely done.

What I really enjoy about his work is the emotion he is able to command with his organic style. When I am looking at this version of Clayface it briings equal amounts pity and horror at his situation. The rain effect hitting his "skin" and the bursting boils adds to the horror elements while the way he looks at you adds to the sympathy in a way that is like the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Stuart is one of the most friendly artists I see at conventions, eager to talk about everything and willing to spend time with whoever walks up to his booth. Even if you do not plan on getting a commission from him I would highly suggest just checking his stuff out because it is very different from most of the art you are likely to see at a convention.
