ESL by James Jean. 18"x24" oil and pumice on wood panel, 2012. Part of a group show at Ivory & Black in London.

Per the artist, "the painting is a portrait of a woman reading out loud from an English instructional booklet. The image is from a cell phone video I had taken of the subject practicing her English."

I was looking for a Fables cover, but I didn't like any of the available ones as much as this painting. In hand now, I absolutely love the painting and glad of my choice.

I am still looking for a Fables cover, so please let me know if you have one available. Thanks!

This is lovely beyond words. A friend recently shared some artwork by James Jean w/ me and that got me looking at CAF. This one stopped me cold and that's about the extent of the words I could muster to describe how stunning this piece is.
