Earl Oliver Hurst - Saturday Home Magazine Cover - October 22, 1949

Earl Oliver Hurst created this art for The Saturday Home Magazine, which was a section of The Chicago Herald - American. The Saturday Home Magazine was a 16 page magazine filled with articles and short stories illustrated by many fine illustrators. This particular issue had a double page article about Greta Garbo.

Unlike the typical Hurst painting, with it's heavy, spontaneous brushwork, Hurst used a minimal amount of brushwork on this piece, almost exclusively relying on watercolor and graphite to define forms.

This image was also used as the cover to the out of print hardcover "The Art of Earl Oliver Hurst".
