Description
Here is an unpublished cover for Wolverine issue #24 penciled and inked by the amazing Gene Colan. Colan also drew all the interiors for the issue which published by Marvel May, 1990.

I believe Colan only worked on two issues of Wolverine (#9 and #24) outside of the Marvel Comics Presents stories and he only had 1 published Wolvie cover for issue #9. This would have been the second.

This issues features the first appearance of the mysterious assassin called Snow Queen. The character was created by writer Peter David and artist Gene Colan for this issue. The story takes place in Madripoor where Patch (Wolverine) comes to the rescue of two thieving street kids named Aldo and Rose. After begging for money, Aldo snatched the Snow Queen's briefcase which turns out to have a picture, cash and a bomb in it.

Wanting to see the full potential of this unused cover I asked Gerry Turnbull to give it his old-school touch. Check out Gerry's colors below!

The colored version of this is absolutely perfect. It would fit in perfectly with the run.

Amazing that Colan could create this kind of magic so late in his career. A true master and legend.

Such a shame it was unpublished. Colan's use of white space here is brilliant, separating the explosive 'apparition' from Wolverine, shielding the children. A really clever design.
